Charlie Hanft is the owner of Hearth and Patio Shop. With 25 years of experience in the metro Atlanta area, he's seen a great deal of innovation in gas, wood and modern fireplaces. His experience is your best ally when choosing your new fireplace as he informs you more fully and more candidly so you can reach decisions that will satisfy you. His showroom is designed to give you options. 4 showrooms were created so that you can actually experience these options in person. So if you are designing a new glass door for your fireplace, you can do so right here in the store. And with Charlie, you have an expert with you every step of the way.
We have seen an increased interest in glass doors for fireplaces because of their ability to easily transform the entire look of your room. These glass doors often answer the question, “Do we need a new fireplace?” Most of the time, that answer is no. A new look for you fireplace, however, might be something that is long overdue for you and your room. More and more people are trending away from replacing their fireplace entirely because it functions just fine. The solution is easy.
Custom glass doors mean a custom fit for your fireplace and a custom look for your room!
Actually, yes because we make it easy for you and it is an enjoyable experience at The Hearth and Patio because we have so many options to choose from when deciding the exact look that you want for you room. As stated, we have over 40 glass doors for you to look at in our showroom so that you can choose the style that best fits your personality. People come to see us when they realize that they do not want the cookie cutter look that is offered at hardware stores and need something that accentuates the room. This is where our expertise is valuable.
Measurements of your fireplace. We need a close approximation of your fireplace so we can narrow down which of our models will fit your fireplace. This is where having so many displays is helpful. Measure on the inside of your fireplace for the height and the width.
Pictures of the fireplace in your room. Take a moment with your phone and snap a few pictures of your fireplace at different angles. Include room shots as well as some close up shots that will better allow us to talk about your needs. If there are any structural concerns that you might have, this is a great way to further the conversation while you are in our showroom.
After we take a look at your pictures and your fireplace measurements, we will look at the glass doors that we have that will fit your fireplace. Not only do we have the largest selection of glass doors on display in Atlanta, but your choices don’t end with the displays. With certain models, you have the ability to choose not only the finish of your door, but the handles as well.
After you have chosen your door, we visit your home to finalize your choice. Here we will get our final measurements and determine if there are any modifications that need to be made. We also bring a large (and heavy) suitcase full of the options that we spoke about at the showroom. We can look at samples of the finishes and handles inside your home so that you can see what the finishes are going to look like matched with your furniture and paint style. This way there are no surprises!
Are you trying to heat your room or do you want gas logs as a decorative element for your room? You have two choices when discussing gas logs: Vented vs Non-Vented. Visit us in Tucker (on Main Street) and we will be happy to explain the differences between vented and non-vented gas logs. If you are wondering, the more popular choice is vented. We can take you through the steps needed to turn your wood fireplace into a more efficient way to have a fire in your home.
Because we have so many burning displays, you will get a true picture of how gas logs burn and you'll have an easier time choosing your design.
Fireplace screens still offer a classic look to any fireplace. And we have a showroom full of them along with all your accessory needs. When you enter our shop off Main Street in Tucker, just keep moving to the back of the store until you enter a hallway. To your right will be a showroom with wood fireplaces; the middle showroom displays all things modern and the showroom down to the left displays our screens and accessories.

New fireplace doors and gas logs have taken over this year's wish lists, and the easiest way for us to help you is to already know the measurements of your existing fireplace! If you have a wood burning fireplace and would like a new fireplace door, simply measure on the inside of the fireplace (top to bottom for height and left to right for width).
If you have a Pre-Fab fireplace (one that has been manufactured and assembled in a factory before being transported and installed), please have the make and model of that fireplace. That can be found on a tag inside of the fireplace. Write down anything you can see about the unit! Everything helps. You might have to clean a little!
If you would like to install gas logs in your fireplace, please go ahead and measure the width of the front & back of your fireplace (at the floor) as well as the depth of the fireplace from front to back.
General rule for measuring: Take pictures of what you are measuring if you have any doubts. We will sort it out once you come to visit.
Don't forget to take pictures of your fireplace. This will give us a more accurate reference to your needs as well as help us guide you to our many design choices that you have available in our showroom.
